This book represents a collection of some my articles. These articles are dedicated to relation between science, philosophy, worldview, theology and truth, then to various problems of science, mainly in quantum mechanics, further to philosophy of science (including the ethical problem of relation between academic freedom and the moral responsibility of a scientist) and finally to a new retrospective view on the history of natural sciences in XX-XXI cc. The history of natural sciences does partially include the science philosophy (the problems of the scientific realism, i.e. the correspondence of science to reality) and also a novel scheme for different classes of sciences with different objects and paradigms. Then there are analyzed the chosen “great” or “grand” problems of physics.

The emergence of proteomics, the large-scale analysis of proteins, has been inspired by the realization that the final product of a gene is inherently more complex than the gene itself. Shortfalls in the ability of bioinformatics and other related sciences to predict both the existence and function of genes have also illustrated the need for protein analysis. Better than gene sequencing or quantitative amplification, proteomics tools allow the study of disease phenotype by the detection and quantification of single protein in body fluids. Moreover, only through the study of proteins can posttranslational modifications be determined, which can profoundly affect protein function. Proteomics has been enabled by the accumulation of both DNA and protein sequence databases, improvements in mass spectrometry and the development of computer algorithms for database searching. In this review, it has been described why proteomics is important, how it is conducted, and how it can be applied to various spheres of pharmaceuticals and health sciences. It has been concluded that currently the most practical application of proteomics is the analysis of target proteins as opposed to entire proteomes

This review presents the results obtained and the deductions made from a series of microstructural studies to determine Eutectic Cell Count (ECC), Dendrite Arm Spacing (DAS), and Grain Size (GS) of hypoeutectic gray cast iron which was sand cast using metallic, non metallic, water cooled and sub- zero (Cryogenic) end chills. Analysis of the data on chilled cast iron show that the cooling rate has a marked effect on eutectic cell size, dendrite spacing and grain size. It is observed that, the number of eutectic cells as an index of graphite nucleation and the effect of these on structure and properties, since the eutectic cells are developed on the graphite nuclei during solidification. The review suggest that some of the graphite in the structure of cast iron form more readily as a result of the decomposition of carbides during and after solidification process rather than being an outcome of the direct growth of the graphite form the liquid. It was found that microstructure, DAS, ECC and GS are highly dependent on the location of the casting from where the test samples were taken (chill end) and also on the chilling rate.
