Perusal of literature reveals the importance of 2,4-pyrandione derivatives, especially those substituted heterocyclic moieties at position 3 as antimicrobial agents. In conjuction with our current research with pyrandione and related compounds, we report herein on the chemistry of dehydroacetic acid that accommodates the pharmacological active moieties. However, no review article regarding the synthesis and reactions of such compound was found during the literature survey, and it is the first time to publish such review by us.
This book provides a review of the psychological and marketing literature on the topics of ethics and morality. The review begins by providing a foundation for the research in psychology and marketing by discussing the works of early thinkers such as, Plato, Socrates, Kant, Mill and Hume. In the psychology literature, a review of the early work conducted by Piaget and Kohlberg, as well as research provided by social scientists in the late 20th century (e.g. Forsyth and Haidt) illustrates that moral action has been viewed either as the result of deliberate moral reasoning, or as the immediate result of automatic action tendencies, both of which may be mediated by the moral definitions and beliefs embedded in an actor’s social environment. Finally, a review of marketing literature reveals that a number of useful models have been developed and numerous individual differences and environmental factors have been identified which influence ethical behavior and decision-making, but theory-guided research is still needed in the area of marketing ethics - - it should be noted, however, that the last few years have seen an explosion of this kind of research.
The main objectives of this research are to gather the benefits and challenges of security testing in the last phase versus security testing in every phase of the SDLC. After gathering, authors want to compare both implementations because these days most organizations are shifting from last phase to every phase of SDLC. Justification to the reason can be achieved by this comparison. In order to satisfy the objectives of this book, a literature review and interviews were conducted. The literature review was conducted by gathering benefits and challenges of last phase and every phase of SDLC. Authors have applied coding technique to the data gathered from literature review. By using the results from literature review, a set of questions were framed. Based on these questions, interviews in various organizations were performed. To analyze the practitioner’s data we used Sorting and Coding technique. Then, we conducted a comparative analysis to compare both results.Application of security testing in the last phase of the SDLC results in a lot of rework which in turn leads to instability in managing the cost, time and resources in an organisation.
This work is a comprehensive review of Endodontic-Periodontal interrelationships which covers all the aspects of these conditions. The discussion begins with review of literature, all the proposed classifications followed by differential diagnosis, treatment planning along with case reports to support or refute the specified treatment. Also, a separate section titled "treatment appraisal and prognosis" highlights the factors that may undermine the ongoing treatment.

This book covers a fruitful literature review of the anaerobic process. It includes a description of the different kinds of anaerobic reactors, emphasizing on UASB reactor. It takes into account the granules development, the kinetics models, and a review of the existing models describing the UASB reactor behavior. The main purpose of this work is the development of a model able to predict the substrate degradation, the biomass growth, and the location of the granule size along the height of the reactor. Based on knowledge about transport phenomena, a model was developed in order to describe the processes occurring in the UASB reactor. It was tested using data from the literature and software (Matlab, Comsol) was used to run the model.
Writing a critical literature review is sometimes the greatest difficulty encountered by graduate students in the process of writing graduate theses or dissertations. Based on analysis of writing samples and in-depth interview data, this study investigated five Chinese graduate students’ experiences with writing a literature review at a medium-sized university in Canada. These students, from five subject areas, held different perceptions of a literature review, and saw the writing challenges they encountered mainly as linguistic problems, especially regarding vocabulary and accuracy at the sentence level. The strategies they used in the composing process were diverse, with different individuals relying on them to different degrees. Findings from this study suggest that Chinese graduate students need assistance to adjust to the new academic environment and writing genre expectations. This book will help faculty members to better understand ESL graduate students' struggle with writing a literature review in English for academic purposes, and might also assist universities in designing suitable language courses based on ESL students’ needs.
This book consists of three chapters: A literature review, an empirical study and a reflective account of the research process. The overarching theme of the book is posttraumatic growth (PTG), which is defined as positive psychological changes that occur during the aftermath of traumatic events. The literature review examines the findings from longitudinal studies and explores associations between PTG and various demographic, personality, religious, cognitive, emotional, social and behavioural factors. The empirical study investigates the relationship between PTG and resilience in a sample of student paramedics. Student paramedics appear able to experience PTG, however further analysis suggested a relationship the between PTG and resilience is unlikely. The reflective account focuses on the research journey. Throughout this chapter, certain aspects of the investigation are reflected upon and the impact the completion of the project had on the main author is also considered.

The literature review deals with the causal sequence of antecedents to privacy concerns, evolving from the APCO macro model of Smith et al. (2011). Given the numerous existing research on information privacy concerns, it highlights important aspects on this topic. The results help to understand the diverse issues that organizations may face when establishing or maintaining a certain service. A selection of high quality literature for the review process assures significant relevance of the findings. The antecedents were finally structured in a categorization table with main- and sub-categories. The different categories provide a clear overview of the influencing variables, in order to bring value to existing research and to contribute as a theoretical foundation for further research. Consequently, they give information about the potential responsibilities of organizations and individuals regarding the influence on information privacy concerns.
The literature review on Water Development in Somali region of Ethiopia was carried out as part of a process to develop the Best Practices Guidelines for Water Development in Somali region, Ethiopia. Somali region, a predominantly pastoral area, is prone to recurrent drought cycles which cause untold suffering to Pastoralists' assets and human life. The Best Practice Guidelines was developed by the regional government in order to synchronize water development activities with pastoral lifestyle. In an environment where everyone may be tempted to think that availing permanent water sources everywhere would address the impact of drought to pastoralists, it is possible to forget that permanent water sources cause sedentarisation. This results in concentration of large herds of animals at and around water points, which causes environmental damage. The literature review was carried out to identify best and worst practices in the region and elsewhere in similar pastoral communities which would then inform the development of the guideline. The review provides important information for development partners interested in supporting water development in Somali region and similar areas.

Globalization is posing several challenges to the new product development sector. Design and operation of new product development are of great economic importance. Finite element simulations are often required to reduce the experimental cost and time by reducing number of trials in the new product development cycle. Over the past few years, some significant developmental efforts have been devoted to design, performance and manufacturing modifications and improvements of new products. This scientific book presents a research literature review of the topology optimization. It helps the researchers to clear understand the history of the field.

It is becoming increasingly clear that epidemic of type 2 diabetes sweeping the globe is associated with decreasing levels of activity and an increasing prevalence of obesity. Thus, the importance of promoting exercises as a vital component of the prevention as well as management of Diabetes Mellitus must be viewed as a high priority. And, since the time exercises have been advocated for the people with diabetes, there is an ongoing debate upon the benefits to risk ratio, safety and type of exercises to be used in such patients. So far no single research article has answered all these questions and thus this literature review has been conducted. This literature review collaborates and analyses few high quality research studies and provides information regarding benefits, safety concerns and general guideline regarding exercise prescription for diabetic patients.

Walter Cohen argues that the history of European literature and of each of its standard periods can be illuminated by comparative consideration of the different literary languages within Europe and of the relationship of European literature to world literature. He explores the five main, overlapping stages of the global history of literature, from the ancient to the present, and argues that the ongoing relationship of European literature to other parts of the world emerges most clearly at the level not of theme or mimesis but of form. One conclusion is that literary history possesses a certain systematicity. Another is that language and literature are not only the products of major historical change but also its agents. Such claims, finally, depend on rejecting the opposition between the general and the specific, between synthetic and local knowledge.
