This book documents a self-study of my own practice as a facilitator in technical vocational education who is committed to practice improvement. I have adapted action research living theory methodology whereby I asked myself the question: How can I improve my practice? It is through adoption of this methodology I have been able to reflect over my practice and how I live in accordance with my values. The aim of this dissertation is to present an account of my inquiry, in which I explore what it means to live my values in practice. Through descriptions and explanations of my practice, this dissertation unveils a process of action and reflection, punctuated by moments when I deny or fail to live my values fully in practice, prompting the iterative question how can I improve my practice; the reflective process enabling me better to understand my practice and test out that understanding with others in the public domain. It is through the research method and tools e.g. audio and video recordings, minutes and log writing, photographing, I became able to document the sequences of my actions during the meetings and group discussion with the instructors at the MVTC

This is a self-study into my life as an athlete, elementary school teacher, learner, and as a teacher educator/researcher. Throughout the inquiry, I explore how my beliefs and values infused my lived-experiences and ultimately influences my constructivist, humanist, and ultimately my holistic teaching and learning practice which as times disrupts the status quo. I have written a collection of narratives which embodied my identity as an unintelligent student/learner, a teacher/learner, an experiential learner, a tenacious participant, and a change agent to name a few. As I unpack my stories and hermeneutically reconstruct their intent, I question their meaning as I explore how I can improve my teaching and learning practice and potentially effect positive change when instructing beginning teacher candidates at a Faculty of Education.
Beagles are an extraordinary breed—no bones about it. They’re cute, compact, fun-loving, and great with kids. (Not to mention those soulful eyes!) But their sense of humor, independence, and stubborn nature isn’t for everyone. So whether you’re thinking about getting your very own Snoopy-dog, or if you’ve already opened your heart and home to one, Beagles for Dummies answers important questions like: What are Beagles supposed to look like and how should they behave? Should I choose a puppy or an adult dog? Male or female? How do I correct my Beagle’s behavior problems? What do I need to do to survive my Beagle’s puppyhood? How can I Beagle-proof my house to keep him (and my stuff) safe? What should I teach my Beagle to do? How do I teach him? What health problems is my Beagle likely to have when he’s young? How about when he grows up—or gets old? Life with these little hounds can lead to years of merriment, entertainment, and love—but if you think Beagles are just another hound dog, think again! Whether you want to know everything there is to living with a Beagle, or just want to skip to a relevant subject (like how to keep him out of the hamper), Beagles for Dummies gives you everything you need to choose and raise your Snoopy soul mate.
In my book I analysed the relationship between the characters and nature in David Herbert Lawrence's two major works. I chose Lady Chatterlay's Lover and The Virgin and the Gipsy, because they are similar to each other in their topics, and I wanted to show how beautifully could Lawrence wrote about love and emotions by using nature. He was said to be a pornographic writer, but it really was a false notion about him. In my opininon he was a brilliant writer.I wanted to write this thesis according to my own thoughts, my feelings, to emphasis what do these novels mean to me.Sometimes I felt, that the feelings are really mine.I think Lawrence really knew women, and the woman soul, because he wrote these novels the way I felt he speaks from my heart. For me reading these works was a pleasure, and I am sure I will offer them for my students. My aim was to make young people-especially my own pupils- to be interested in reading. I hope those, who are going to read my essay will become interested in these books, and in reading itself, because it really can help us to understand our own feelings, thoughts and can show us the right way to follow.
The benefit to my own company's fortunes, having worked with Anthony, has been a steadily expanding client roster, a leg up on my competition, and the ability to comfortably walk through any door knowing that the prospect who sits in judgment of my service needs me at least as much as I need them.—Rob Katz, CEO, Medical Eyeglass Center «My time with Anthony Belli played an immeasurably important role in mytransformation from an engineer to hardcore, street-smart sales professional. Countless milestones later, I received [my company's] highest lifetime career achievement honor. Thank you, Anthony, for helping me write my own script in life.»—Michael Burton, Principal Technical Consultant, St. Jude Medical Cardiac Rhythm Management «Having myself grown up in an ethnic, blue-collar Boston community, the legitimacy of a 'street-smart' way of doing things intrigued me. The lessons he teaches can, inmany instances, be applied to any profession, whether in sales or not.»—From the Foreword by Joe Mandato, DM, Fellow, Advanced Leadership Initiative, Harvard University When you start out with nothing in life, each and every mistake, misplay, andmissed opportunity can cost you dearly. But that lack of a safety net can hone your judgment and create precision radar for opportunity in a way that no cushy upbringing can. The Street-Smart Salesman shows how growing up poor teaches pricelesslessons that can make you a fortune in sales and business. Strategies include: Channeling fear and stress into high-performance sales Creating irresistible value propositions: Blazing a trail from the head to the heart to the wallet Understanding that all prospects lie—and how to get to the truth
Walking down the steep inclines of Ooty with Suresh, now my husband, I couldn’t stop thinking about how I had imagined my husband to be. I thought how I imagined our afternoons to be. How we would talk aabout serious issues, about work, about how we wanted to do something for the poor, contribute to the society. Suresh cracked a joke. I smiled, just enough to not hurt him... The poor guy had been trying to make me comfortable for the three days that we had been married. He's so different than the guy I thought I will spend my life with... Suresh pointed towards the valley. He said something and laughed. I didn’t hear what he said, I was too lost in myself. But his laughter was infectious. I smiled. This time, not out of mercy. I was lost in my thoughts as we walked downhill. Just then a state transport bus came screeching down the slope and Suresh pulled me towards himself. I looked at the bus that whizzed by, too arrogant to care about a girl lost in her thoughts. I looked into the eyes of Suresh. He held me by my waist. I could feel his heaving chest, his strong hands. This was the first time I was standing this close to a man. I felt safe. I meant something to someone...
My name is Finlay McIntosh. I can see OK, can hear perfectly fine and I can write really, really well. But the thing is, I can't speak. I'm a st-st-st-stutterer. Hilarious, isn't it? It's like the word is there in my mouth, fully formed and then, just as it's ready to leave my lips . . . POP! It jumps and ricochets and bounces around my gob. Except it isn't funny at all, because there's not a thing I can do about it.'Finlay's mother vanished two years ago. And ever since then his stutter has become almost unbearable. Bullied at school and ignored by his father, the only way to get out the words which are bouncing around in his head is by writing long letters to his ma which he knows she will never read, and by playing Scrabble online. But when Finlay is befriended by an online Scrabble player called Alex, everything changes. Could it be his mother secretly trying to contact him? Or is there something more sinister going on?A Seven-Letter Word is an evocative and heartfelt story from the multi-award-winning author of Smart, Kim Slater.
