Lead is an environmental toxic metal, which is capable of causing many chronic diseases. Important sources of lead include pipes, lead containing paints, gasoline containing lead, and the different kinds of canned foods. In the present study lead toxicity and the oxidative stress caused by lead intoxication has been studied. Oxidative stress is a very major effect of lead. The mechanism of lead-induced oxidative stress involves an imbalance between generation and removal of ROS (reactive oxygen species) in tissues and cellular components causing damage to membranes, DNA and proteins. The blood samples from lead exposed and control males were collected and sera was isolated from them. Different biochemical tests were performed on serum by the use of biochemical kits. The results indicated an increase in glucose concentration in lead exposed subjects.
Teacher stress is a real phenomenon and is associated with problems of recruitment, health and retention of teachers. Research has shown that teachers stress is reliably associated with a number of variables, including those intrinsic to the job, individual cognitive vulnerability and systemic factors. There are however important gaps in our understanding of teacher stress, most notably regarding effective interventions. The current research base is not adequate to allow us to devise effective programmers to reduce teacher stress. The modern jet age world, which is said to be a world of amazing achievements, is also a horrible world of stress. We find stress everywhere whether it be within the family, business organization enterprise or any other social or economic activity.
Occupational stress is an increasingly important occupational health problem causing a significant economic lost. Petrochemical industry workers are one of several occupational groups who potentially experience high level of occupational stress. They work in high pressure environment, handling hazardous material and managing large amount of chemical energy. This was an intervention study to assess the effect of stress management intervention program based on DASS42 score. The stress management program adopted consisted of lectures on stress and stress management, video sessions, question and answer sessions, pamphlet distribution, and aerobic exercises. In assessment of effectiveness of stress management program, it was found that there were significant reduction in pre and post-intervention (immediate and one month post-intervention) with estimated marginal mean of depression score, anxiety score and stress score (p > 0.001). It indicates the needs to improve the work environment in term of decision latitude, psychological job demand, and toxic exposure. A regular short stress management program is effective in reducing some aspect of depression, anxiety and stress in this group.

The U.S financial crises of 2008 highlighted the role of a depressed financial system in causing an economic downturn. This pioneer empirical study develops a financial stress index for the Pakistan economy during 2000-2013. We use key variables that capture unique aspect of stress in the financial system. Principal component analysis technique is used to aggregate the components to a single index. Empirical analysis reveals that banking sector and stock market volatility are the leading contributors to financial stress in Pakistan. The developed financial stress index is then used to trace high episodes of financial stress. Our index was successful in identifying three main financial crises that attacked the financial system including global financial crisis of 2008. Afterwards, the impact of financial stress on real economic activity is examined using impulse response function and Granger causality analysis. We find the expected results as high values of financial stress index are associated with decline in macroeconomic indicators. These findings will provide useful information to readers about the financial and economic dynamics of a developing economy like Pakistan.
People of all ages are affected by stress and anxiety. High school students seem especially vulnerable to this reality. Stress and anxiety levels affect the students academically and change the way the person thinks and acts during school or time spent in studying. Stress exists from the change in an individual’s thinking and their lifestyle nowadays. Students in their teens are the ones who are going through the transitional phase, which is an intermediate of childhood and adulthood. Stress is believed to be caused by the various problems that exist such as problems at school, financial problems, family problems and problems in their surroundings. Adolescents also experience stress because they are sometimes trapped between making decisions which is to follow rules and orders or to be free and discover the world like they should. Adolescents in the previous days were trained for things that were suitable with their age so that they can use it to manage their lives. The main focus of this study is to find out the academic stress among IX and X class students and identify variables causing stress.

Prolonged stress has long been shown to have major effects on the development of both type of diabetes mellitus, Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that is characterized by the immune system attacking self-antigens. There is a failure or breakdown in immunological tolerance to allow this to happen. Prolonged physical or emotional stress can activate the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis to induce production of the stress hormone glucocorticoid, causing abrupt thymus involution and result in escape of autoreactive T- cells. Though regulatory T-cells (Treg) are present in the circulation, they are unable to suppress the autoreative T-cells from initiating the destruction of ?-cells and the subsequent development of Type 1 diabetes. Stress also causes metabolic disturbances, including altered hepatic glucose metabolism, increased peripheral insulin resistance and hyperglycemia. Glucocorticoid is the potential contributor to the chronic hyperglycemia that results in insulin resistance and ?-cell dysfunction via the generation of oxidative stress which ultimately leads to the development of Type 2 diabetes.
