Even worse, it is a confusing one for a student who is asked for the first time to write a research paper after studying several courses of essay writing. Writing a research paper needs not to be a frightening task. A research paper may be longer than most of all college essays, but a student will be given more time to complete it. Having a plan for work will make the process go smoothly. Over the years, I have arrived at a time-saving, ten-step, simple strategy for this. The first five steps prepare the student to write and the remaining steps helps in writing the documented paper. This book goes through these steps giving some examples from online resources.

Journal writing is a significant reflective vehicle which actively engages learners in processing of their learning experience in order to integrate it with existing knowledge and create new meaning. Hubbs and Brand (2005) describes reflective journal as “paper mirror”, and states, “As a glass mirror reflects a visual image, the paper mirror reflects students’ inner worlds and making of meaning” (p.70). Reflection through journal writing provides the opportunity for learners to return to their previous learning experience, and self-evaluate their learning capabilities which as a result may increase their self-efficacy.

Scaffolding strategies are effective tools for helping learners overcome their writing difficulties. Scaffolding is an interactive process in which a teacher or facilitator assists a learner to build a structure to contain and frame the new information. This book introduces a suggested program based on scaffolding strategies (graphic organizers, writing frames, and think sheets) to develop the writing skill of EFL students.
